Welcome to Merced County Search and Rescue
The Merced County Sheriff’s, Search and Rescue Team is available for search and rescue operations 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The organization is made up of community volunteers along with professional deputies and is dedicated to saving lives. Whenever a callout is made, the volunteers are dispatched to the the scene; any time of the day or night in any type of weather. There is never a charge for this invaluable service. The team also contributes countless hours to schools and community events, educating the public on the purpose of the Posse, training techniques, and emergency preparedness.
Many hours of training are required each year to maintain the expertise needed in search and rescue techniques. A few of the trainings include crime scenes, survival training, CPR, man tracking, ATV operation, horsemanship, along with a long list of other training exercises. Many members travel to trainings out of state. All team members provide their own personal gear and travel is at the volunteers own expense to the trainings and callouts.
